Rotherham based leading manufacturer Specialised Laser Products (SLP) are set for a SPARK-tacular 2022 after introducing welding capabilities to their in house processes.
Established in 1995 SLP began as a high-quality laser cutting provider to the South Yorkshire region. Since then, the company has seen tremendous growth after acquiring new premises and machines to enhance their offers to customers all over the country. Most of SLP's capital plant and equipment is less than 3 years old offering the latest technology and processes.
Over the last couple of decades, the business has gone from strength to strength, constantly innovating to provide a better service to their customers.
In their mission to provide an all-round service, rather than subcontracting, Director and Owner of SLP Duncan Proctor decided to invest in a welding facility. This will allow the business to save on its carbon footprint when it comes to transporting products to subcontractors and provide a quicker service to its existing customers. Duncan said:
“We believe that having a welding department compliments our current capabilities and will mean we can proudly say we can offer this service to new and existing customers.
As we already provide Laser and Flame cutting services, supported with inhouse Press Brake folding and CNC Machining, it seemed like the next sensible step for the business. It also means we can utilise some of our existing employees' skills.”
The company received a £10,000 productivity grant through the Sheffield City Region Business Support programme in order to invest in the new equipment. By re-planning areas of the Shop floor, the facility will be integrated into the existing 20,000sq ft factory in order to carry out the welding work. Duncan concluded:
“We are firm believers in continuous improvement throughout our business, always looking for opportunities to innovate and improve our service.
As part of that, our management team is currently embarking on advanced training courses.
With the addition of a welding facility to our current manufacturing processes, the addition of a welding facility to our current manufacturing processes delivers added value to both ourselves and our customer base”.
