SLP Recognised As Manufacturing Hero
SLP is excited to announce that we have been named 'Manufacturing Hero' by the distinguished Made in Group in a recent campaign to recognise manufacturers up and down the region for their efforts throughout the pandemic and beyond.
What a tough time 2020/21 was for all.
As with many companies, SLP were trading on reduced orders and revenue for a period of time over the last couple of years and as such, we were only operating on 1 shift as opposed to 3 shifts on our shop floor during those times.
We managed to keep trading throughout, maintaining a good level of service for our customers with one of our priorities being to keep all our staff. With the help of the furlough scheme we avoided any redundancies.
By comparison to some, our contribution to the covid PPE was quite small, we supplied Packaging Knife blanks which were needed for PPE production, but as they say, every bit helps.
Towards the end of 2021, we were just about back to full strength, orders picked up well and we had a busy last quarter.
This has carried through into 2022 and hopefully this will continue. We are still in very challenging times but keeping our focus on what we do best and having an open mind to diversification should see us through.
